Met Museum Goes Contemporary: NYT Reports Sheena Wagstaff from the Tate Modern Joins

Can the Met be everything?  Its trying–as it should I think.  The board approved the hiring of Tate Modern curator Sheena Wagstaff to head the new 20/21 Century department, which until now, oddly, was shuttered between European Impressionism. Also, the Met will take over the Whitney’s place on Madison. I personally think this is great–it will result in the addition of basically a new contemporary museum and dusts off the Met’s reputation for its stodgy approach to the world of contemporary art.
