I’m so glad to be asked to present some of my fine art landscape photographs at the Secret City this Sunday, for the themed show, “Light.”
As my third or fourth time showing my work there, The Secret City is still somewhat hard to describe–mostly because its so different. I hope you can come by.
It is at Dixon Place, 161 Chrystie St, this Sunday, 11:30am, December 22, $10 donation I believe.
What is the Secret City? Chris Wells, impresario, leads the ceremony, which is part salon, part tent revival. Each gathering has a different theme–this time it’s light–and features a rotating roster of artists, performers, signers (there was once an Armenian tuba concerto, if I recall correctly, which was amazing), and performers sharing work relating to the theme.
Each “service” always has a visual art component, as well as a tasty food offering, live music, guest performances, storytelling, community interaction, silent meditation, The Secret City Singers, special outfits and JOY, which is central to the mission of The Secret City. Best of all is Chris’ thoughtful writing, akin to a short story: its pithy, usually humorous, and is personal and moving.
