Silicon Valley Takes on Photos

More smartphone apps for photography indicate growing interest from consumers–and Silicon Valley. The recent New York Times article describes several new venture capital investments in apps like PicPlz which help “broadcast your pics in style” by providing filters to make your phone captured photographs look like an SX-70 Polaroid and can upload it. Instagram is another app mentioned in the article.

Smartphone photography is ubiquitous; I’d love to see a museum curator or gallerist embrace it.
