Uta Barth, An-My Le: Fine Art Photographers Win MacArthur Grant

Two fine art photographers won the 2012 MacArthur Fellowship Grant: Uta Barth, An-My Le, photographer.  As far as I can tell, its the first time two photographers were awarded the fellowship in the same year.  Each winner each get $500,000 over the next five years, and are among the 23 Fellows for 2012.

Uta. Barth’s suggestive out-of-focus images are very different from the Düsseldorf photographers, such as Thomas Struth. The 54-year-old artist shows with Tanya Bonakdar Gallery.

An-My Lê was born inSaigon,Vietnam, and received an MFA fromYaleUniversityin 1993 (a few years after I). Her photographs examine Vietnam War reenactiments.  Congratulations to them both.
